Chapter 1. In a story The Little Bells, a little boy finds a white veil left on a dusty village road. The wind carries the veil to the river and as the Little Boy follows it, he sees a beautiful little girl playing with the veil in the water, which completely hipnotizes him. Their love is pure and in its essence, only beautiful things happen. They participate only as the observers of macabre events in the village and surroundings. Chapter 2. My White Pillows is a story about Dora, the local hairdresser, and professional mourner. The village says that her talent makes even the dead weep. One day, she is offered a job to cry for a Man Who Could Not Die. Chapter 3. Years later. In the story Pot of Roses, after a marriage proposal, the pure child love is transformed and becomes submissive to the rules and cruelty of adult world. A marriage celebration with macabre atmosphere and oppressive manners of the villagers commence.
