Synopsis

Jens, a small time crook on the run, is only expecting to spend the night when he makes a stop in the village of Schandelsmillen. When he meets Lucy Loschetter and spends that night with her, his plan slowly disintegrates. Soon he finds himself working in the village as a farm hand, joining the brass brand as a novice trumpeter and sharing farmer gossip in the local café. After the big city gangsters that are after him drop by the village, but fail to recognise him, he figures he has found the perfect cover. Perfect, except for that lingering sensation that something is not quite right. Something dark is lurking behind the village's immaculate surface, but Jens has a hard time figuring out exactly what it is. Does it involve Lucy's violent former lover? Is it linked to the abandoned farm outside the village? Or to the burned-out car he found in the forest? Is Lucy even to be trusted? On his quest for the truth, Jens get drawn in deeper and deeper. When he eventually re-emerges he will have, quite literally, become another person.
