Synopsis
María (38), tired about the abuses by her husband Asiel (54), found her courage and fixes the plan she had contrived months ago, that is why she escapes with her sons Yessy (15) and Huaina (6) towards a hidden town where she leaves them under the care of her mother, Rosa (65) who is an Inca shaman. María’s strategy: to go to Chile for 6 months, to work as much as possible, to gather money, to go back to Peru and buy the land where she left her people.
In Santiago María will confront to an adverse scenery, but she will meet Candelaria (35), who is another emigrant girl. Both will find their own ways, between friendship and company they will find love with each other. Leaving behind any kind of discrimination, and finding strength in themselves. María will find a city surrounded by characters and universes that will make her meet a current Chile, recognizing in herself a searching for personal freedom. She will work tirelessly in three different jobs to gather the money: in a fabric factory, in a house belonging to two italian veterans, and on sundays selling tamales at one corner of Plaza de Armas, all of this with the purpose of going back to Peru.
Everything will change when Asiel find María’s sons and kidnap Yessy. Due to this María will fall into desperation, including a mater- nal animal instinct. Both, with the company of Candelaria will elaborate a plan to rescue María’s daughter. With time and money against them, they will organize a mugging as a solution in which Candelaria will be wound. All of this will detonate María’s anger, which will make her look for revenge and Asiel’s death. In spite of meet love and face adversity she will overcome the obstacles to achieve her aim. María will not be afraid anymore.
