Synopsis

Diego was born in one of those working class areas on the outskirts of the city. A place where you still have a choice, but there’s only two roads you can take. The first comprises hard work and learning to be content with what you’ve got. The second involves stealing, drug pushing and who knows what else… Diego chose hard work and sweat – the building trade. He also chose Cinzia because they grew up together in the same building, on the same floor.
But then something unexpected crops up. Umberto, Diego’s father-in-law, and Sandro, an old colleague, clash with their boss and dream about setting up their own business. Diego tries to mediate. The engineer takes a liking to him and offers him extra work. Viola, the boss’ niece, as infantile as she is beatiful, needs her apartment fixing up. Diego accepts the assignment. The girl belongs to a completely different world – she lives in the historic centre, frequenting trendy clubs and previews. It’s a long way from the outskirts and the construction site where everyone seems to want a normal life, even Ivan “the Pirate” – Diego’s best friend – who chose to take the other road. A kiss suddenly dissolves the barriers and distance between Diego and Viola, each one curious about something outside their realm of experience.
