The final instalment in Lee Sang-woo’s ‘Bad Family’ trilogy, following ‘Mother Is a Whore’ and ‘Father Is a Dog’, ‘I Am Trash’ stars Lee as a lowly street cleaner doing his best to look after his younger brothers. However, his plans are scuttled when their degenerate father returns home, after being jailed for the rape of a teenage girl. The victim’s father hangs around their home, looking to avenge his still traumatised daughter. The cycle of sex and violence comes to a dizzying head in this closing chapter of director Lee’s thematic trio of dark family dramas.
