Lucia, a professional nurse, takes a long journey to grips with her daughter' loss. Her family is brokenhearted and relocates to Merano. Lucia works in a Hospice where she befriends Redetti and others who will bring her understanding how to "live the unliveable" and change her family's perspective.

Synopsis

A family in emotional turmoil comes to grips with the loss of their daughter. Anna's death has deep and unresolved consequences for the family. Her mother, Lucia, is unable to find closure, while her husband, Michael, (Ulrich Tukur) withdraws into himself. Gabriel, their younger son, feels guilty for surviving his sister's death and resentful at his mother's continuous grieving. Attempting to improve the family situation, they move from Milan to Merano, Michael's hometown. Lucia, a professional nurse, is drawn to the world of Palliative Care and works in a Hospice, where she befriends a retired professor, Redetti (Paolo Bonacelli) and other patients, who are unaware of her personal tragedy. They help her to accept her loss. Her personal closure brings healing to her family: Michael finally emerges from his isolation, Gabriel overcomes his anger and finds his own way to life.
