Synopsis

In the 1970s, two women in the hippie movement gather for their dream of freedom. Luhli and Lucina live in an alternative community and dedicate themselves to radical musical experimentation; they become pioneers in the Brazilian independent music scene. Having written more than 800 pieces, using instruments such as guitars or the drums they built themselves, they say "no" to record labels and dive into Umbanda, a Brazilian syncretic religion, and artistic creation. They have a love triangle with photographer Luiz Fernando Borges da Fonseca, who records their lives in Super-8. This footage, the independent recordings of their concerts and current footage recreate their spiritual-musical universe in a film about freedom and the search for Brazilian primitive cultural roots. The cast includes Gilberto Gil, Ney Matogrosso, Zélia Duncan and other names in the history of Brazilian popular music.
