Based on the award winning short film Surly Squirrel, The Nut Job is a tale of falling from grace and the subsequent redemption through learning the importance of home. Surly squirrel and his best friend Buddy the rat, have just been banished from Liberty Park for destroying the beloved Oak Tree - the only home left for park animals which is being surrounded by the growing metropolis. Shortly after leaving the park, our two anti-heroes come across the jackpot - A NUT STORE full of sweet and delicious nuts. Little do they know that the store is being used as a front for King and his gang to stake out the National Bank and prepare for a robbery! As Surly and Buddy create a plan to steal the nuts from the nut store, King and his men prepare to rob the bank using bags of nuts as a decoy.
