Synopsis

Fuga Dal Call Center tells the story and the emotional fortunes of Gianfranco, one of today’s many young temps, who, after
obtaining a first class degree in volcanology, ends up working in the basement of a call center. Hired for his unique qualifications,
Gianfranco slowly sees his dreams fading away as he is pushed down to the very bottom of the career ladder.
Meanwhile, his long-time girlfriend Marzia, in order to continue studying and pay for her share of the living expenses, is forced
to work as an operator for a phone sex service provider.
Both used to live with their grandparents but they were thrown out and forced to be more independent. Sadly, it is not all it is
cracked up to be: life is tough, dull and above all terribly expensive! Nowadays, they can only afford to go out to places that
have vending machines and going to the movies has become a rare luxury!
Who would grant a loan to two young temps without a contract?
Things keep getting worse day after day. Gianfranco tries to make ends meet by working as a cleaner for a Filipino family and
his ever deepening depression - caused by his insecure, badly paid and unrewarding job - leads to a crisis in his relationship
with Marzia.
The situation just couldn’t get any worse until one day, Marzia finds out she’s pregnant.
Fuga Dal Call Center is a docu-fiction. Six short interview sequences, a selection from the many real-life stories given by call
center operators all over Italy, are fused with the rest of the film. These genuine interviews will be placed into the movie’s
diegesis and will be blended in with the fiction to reveal at the end that it is in fact Marzia, the lead’s girlfriend, who is doing
the interviewing.
