Synopsis

When Willie, a teenage Aboriginal boy, runs away from his oppressively religious boarding school, he finds himself scared and alone facing an epic journey across Australia in order to find his way home. A chance meeting introduces him to the wily old Tadpole, a drunken degenerate out for all he can get, and two travelling hippies on a voyage of self-discovery across Australia’s stunning outback terrain. What will be waiting for Willie when he finally gets home? How will his overbearing and deeply religious mother react and, perhaps more importantly, what will have become of the lovely Rosie, the girl he loves with all his heart? The answers to these questions and more are revealed a magical, romantic and, of course, musical climax.
