This rousing tribute to Canadian singer-songwriter Kate McGarrigle was recorded at New York City's Town Hall in May 2011 and features her famously musical family - children Rufus and Martha Wainwright, older sisters Anna and Jane - and equally gifted friends including Emmylou Harris and Norah Jones. Kate died in January 2010, leaving a legacy of captivating harmonies and bittersweet lyrics, including 'Talk To Me Of Mendocino' and 'Walking Song'. Other performers include Teddy Thompson, who nails Kate's previously unrecorded 'Saratoga Summer Song'; Krystle Warren, a revelation on the Anna McGarrigle-penned 'I Don't Know'; and Antony (of Antony and the Johnsons) in harmony with Rufus on 'I Cried For Us'. Australian filmmaker Lian Lunson (Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man) interweaves concert footage with family memories in this immensely enjoyable and moving homage.
