Once upon a time, but not so long ago, there was a hospital. The patients at the hospital were all very strange. Muromachi used to be a famous child actor but resigned from his ambitions because he could not develop into an adult actor. Takita is a dim-witted fire fighter who got run over by a fire engine. Kinomoto is a gay man who is a fan of Judy Ongg and loves to gossip. Ryumonji is a scar-covered Yakuza who was admitted to hospital with a gun shot wound. Horigome is difficult to describe but is definitely odd. It is not just the patients who are strange at the hospital. Doctors and nurses are just as weird. Doctor Asano is a wannabe Peter Pan. Nurse Tamako has a tattoo. Another nurse Masami looks scary but is easily influenced by money. Her husband, Koichi is a born stooge. Above all, Onuki, an old man who built up his company all by himself from scratch, is a super cranky old man. “The fact that you know me just annoys me. Don’t call my name so easily!” Onuki said so to whoever approached him and did whatever took his fancy at the hospital, so all the patients hated him. One day, however, Onuki meets a girl called Paco, who lost her parents in a car accident. She cannot retain memory beyond one day due to an after effect she suffered in the accident, and she keeps reading the same picture book day after day. Despite all that, Onuki shoves her away only because she was seated on the bench he wanted to sit on. The following day, however, Paco is seated on the same spot again, reading the same picture book as if nothing has happened. Onuki starts bonding with Paco after the incident, and begins to doubt his way of living. He begins to want to do something for Paco with his remaining life, and comes up with a brilliant idea. It is something that will make Paco very happy. What do you think would be Onuki’s idea? This is how this exciting and thrilling story begins.
