Synopsis
Simmering underneath the unforgiving social culture and harsh family values of rural Vietnam, dangerous gangs run like a current under the city, uniting the lives rich and poor alike.
International business owner Kim Anh is a gorgeous, wealthy, business savvy, successful and powerful force to be reckoned with, but her personal life is a different story. She’s irrational, irresponsible and self-destructive, acting almost like a teenager, partying, late nights, alcohol abuse and younger men. Her daughter Nhi, 17, financially spoiled emotionally neglected, responds to her mother’s behavior by diving head first into drinking and drugs. She begins to make friends with men who run with the inner city gangs.
Cuong is the leader of a high level criminal and smuggling gang. When someone owes him money, he gets it, or people die. He has several million dollars tied up in Kim Ann’s company. When Kim Anh finds out his money has criminal ties, she turns it over to the government who seize it all.
He is determined to get the money back from Kim Anh at all costs. He goes after the people she loves the most. On the street, drunk and running around with her friends from club to club trying to escape reality, Kim Anh's daughter an easy target for Cuong’s gang.
A young female government detective (Hoang Lan) and her team have been searching for enough proof of criminal activity to arrest Cuong. But she also discovers a secret about Kim Anh, one that could destroy her life.
The fight to stop Cuong and save Nhi forces Kim Anh to reveal the truth about her past with his psychotic gang lord and confront the misguided choices she’s made to become such a rich powerful woman.
