Synopsis
France is under shock: the President’s been assassinated. Behind the scenes, politicians are already campaigning for the special election 35 days from now.
Presidential advisor Simon Kapita wants to preserve his mentor’s honor and sides with low-level Minister Anne Visage. He believes she’s the only one capable of defeating their political enemy, Prime Minister Philippe Deleuvre.
But Simon finds in his way his former protégé, Ludovic Desmeuzes, now at work for the PM’s campaign. Between these two heirs to the President’s legacy, a fratricidal war is about to begin.
Spin is a political thriller that brings us deep in the heart of a tension-filled campaign. Games of power, treason, hate, love: these Spin doctors will go through anything to see their candidate win.
It is a year since Anne Visage (played by Nathalie Baye in the 1st season of SPIN), lost the presidential elections, and the current President, Alain Marjorie, faces two disasters: one personal and one political.
His delicate and unpredictable wife, Elisabeth, has a car accident. The passenger, her lover, is killed instantly. Benoit Hussan, the Prime Minister and a friend of the couple covers up the accident, but he is then himself caught up in a political and financial scandal. Hussan has to resign.
We now have a political crisis and the President Marjorie calls on the services of Simon Kapita, man in the shadows from the first season. Kapita has not only to deal with the media but also to divert the manoeuvers by the Opposition to destabilize the government. His sense of strategy and communication are put to the test, especially as a new scandal threatens to erupt…
Once again, the storylines in SPIN are exceptionally-well managed, with a vibrant screenplay and brilliant performances by the actors, notably Carole Bouquet , in the role of Elisabeth.
