Since the age of six, Max (David Krumholtz) has been trying to kill himself. He’s used a gun, a rope and even hurled himself out of a window. But one way or another, he’s always managed to survive. Exasperated, his parents (Lorraine Bracco & David Paymer) have had him committed to a mental institution, where at last, he’s found a reason to live. Her name is Grace (Natasha Lyonne); she’s a wild mental patient whose death wish is even stronger than Max’s. But Max has a plan to save her. They’re taking their marriage vows, ‘til death do us part, and running away from the loony bin to start a new life. LOVE CAN BE INSANE “I wanted to make a movie that was about a "real" relationship between two dysfunctional people. More specifically, two young people. I think most young people can relate to being depressed at some point, and unfortunately many relate to feeling suicidal and out of place in the world. Max & Grace are two people who struggle to live, but who nonetheless work out a relationship. A relationship perfect for them, but far from perfect. I think that ultimately relationships are harder to do successfully than just about everything else we do in life, maybe even film. “My Suicidal Sweetheart” captures that idea.” -Michael Parness, Writer/Director
