Synopsis

Agnès Troublé is a true lover of life: she loves clothing, movies, music, photography, painting, creation, life and the youth of the world.
This daughter of Lenôtre – the creator of the gardens at Versailles, which she lived nearby as a child – and of May ’68, studied Art History at Beaux Arts. Her dream: to become a museum curator. She has attained her dream by becoming, at the same time, a great art collector, a photographer, and soon-to-be movie director. When she was 19, she trained her pretty pencil strokes in expanding ready-to-wear fashion houses. She registered the trademark agnès b whose lower case letters are their own manifesto: the “b” is the initial of the surname of her two son’s father, and the “a,” a minimalist personal statement. She opens her first boutique in 1975, on Paris’s Rue du Jour, with Jean René de Fleurieu, her second husband.
For this stylist, who has lived to the rhythms of rock n’ roll and the Nouvelle Vague, fashion comes from films, concerts, and primarily, the street. She would take the drama out of fashion, and invent “no mode” and generic clothing. Because she loves the sophistication of simplicity, her discovery of the empire of symbols, Japan, was inevitable. It would be love at first sight for the stylist and her brand, and would contribute to making the agnès b label grow globally.
Serge July followed Agnès in her “factory” on the Rue Dieu in Paris, where she conceives and centralizes all her activities, in her travels, in the creation of her collections and in a few of her passions. Portrait of a woman, through her declarations of love.
