In early 1992, a ten year old Swiss girl learns that her cousin was killed in a faraway country called «Croatia.» The cousin, a young Swiss journalist was involved in the civil war in former Yugoslavia. When his body was found, he was wearing the uniform of an international mercenary force. The tragic death preoccupies the little girl a great deal. So much, that as an adult she decided to make a film about the background of this story. First came the short, internationally acclaimed animated film «Chrigi.» Now, Anja Kofmel is planning a bigger project. With «CHRIS THE SWISS» she wants to create a feature-length film, where not only the story but also the implementation is very winning: animated scenes will be combined with real filmed documental sequences. The story, based on journalistic research will gain a fictional look thanks to the animation. Therefore moving on the fringe between reality and fiction.
