This poetic, mystical story is about a long life, hard work, family, guilt and ghosts. In a rugged isolated village in rural Chile, tradition and superstition yield to forgiveness and letting go. A final decision has to be made before death comes.“And The Whole Sky Fit in the Dead Cow’s Eye” came to me through a tarot card: the X of Gold; And old man coming back to his village where no one recognizes him. Other specific images started appearing after that; From a news headline that informed that 55 cows had been stroke by a lightning bolt and an endless tear that I saw coming from one of my grandmother’s eye. That’s how Emeteria was born, out of that tear. As the protagonist of this very Chilean folk story, she is visited by a ghost, incarnated by an old patrón of the village, who brings a bad omen. At the end of her life, Emeteria will need to make a journey to save her son’s life.
