Synopsis

In a remote Australian sheep farming town, Colin and Les are two brothers working side by side but who haven’t spoken to each other in 40 years. Farmed by their family for generations, their sheep are from the same stock, but the two brothers couldn’t be more different: Colin is studious, introverted, and composed, while Les is hot-headed, crude and reckless. But they both share the same goal: win the annual competition for the best ram that confirms their superior bloodline and means everything to them.

But this year’s contest takes a sour turn for the whole town when Les’ finest ram tests positive for a rare disease and the authorities order the slaughter of every sheep in the valley, infected or not. While Les takes them on with bravado and a belly full of rum, Colin attempts to outsmart the authorities by quietly hiding a few of his sheep in his house.

But suspicions are aroused and as the authorities converge, the warring brothers must finally find a way to work together to save their community, their family’s legacy, and their very way of life.
