Synopsis

Fleeing gang violence Oscar, an 11-year-old boy from Honduras, crosses the US, to Arizona
with a group of migrants. However, after falling out with the group’s leader Oscar soon
finds himself all alone in the desert under the blazing sun. Dehydrated and exhausted, Oscar
tries to makes his way toward his uncle in Phoenix when he is apprehended by border
patrol and taken to an immigration processing facility for unaccompanied minors.

In constant defiance Oscar struggles against the constraint of life in the “Icebox”. In this
new microcosm Oscar meets other boys, all with different ideas of what it takes to avoid
deportation. While awaiting the trial, which will determine whether or not he will be allowed
to stay in the US, Oscar is dealt another blow as a secret about his past is revealed by the
officers. A secret that further jeopardizes his chances of asylum.

Through the wire fence Oscar watches as one of his friends is dragged out of his cell
following a failed escape attempt. Not knowing who to trust or what to believe, Oscar
fights to regain control of his fate inside the rigid machine of the immigration process.
